There are two primary reasons that make forming an aircraft partnership an excellent idea. First, a General Aviation aircraft is largely an under-utilized asset because the typical non-commercial pilot flies less than 150 hours a year. The worst thing for any machine is to sit unused for lengthy periods of time and expect trouble-free on-demand service. A partnership helps increase the utility of an aircraft and helps keep it in a more airworthy condition while reducing the total cost of ownership. Second, whether you want to form a partnership for a new or pre-owned aircraft, common sense dictates that a group of people pooling their assets will be able to purchase more aircraft at a lower cost per individual.
